Written and directed by Nietzchka Keene and based on a tale from The Brothers Grimm, The Juniper Tree is the story of two sisters, Margit and Katla, who escape after the death of her mother, who had been burnt at the stake accused of witchcraft. Katla, the eldest sister, uses magical powers to seduce Jóhann, a handsome widower. Shot in Iceland, it is also the film-acting debut of singer/songwriter Björk.
